SUPREME COURT
ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT The hearing took place in the Supreme Court to-day before His Honour Mr Justice Reed, of the case in which Wilfred Oliver Hart was charged with indecent assault on a male at Nelson on 14th December last. Mr C. R. Fell appeared for the Crown, and Mr W. V. Rout for accused, who pleaded not guilty. The following jury were empanelled: ! J. E. Chapman. A. F. Johnston, J. J. Holmes, H. J. Brough, 11. V. Hockey, A. M. Heath, R. Chapman. W. E. G. Kenning, A. L. Ching. F. II Greenwood, C. B. Hodgson, L. G. Williams. Mr C. B. Hodgson was chosen foreEvidence was given by a boy of eight years, his guardian and Detective-Ser-geant Hayhurst. The latter told of interviewing accused in reference to the boy’s complaint, and getting an admission from accused that the assault had taken place. Accused made a statement (produced) admitting the act. Mr Rout made a formal objection to the statement, which His Honour noted. The case for the Crown was concluded; and accused was in the witness box at the adjournment of the Court this
