UPPER MOUTERE

W.D.F.U. The February meeting of the above branch was held at the residence of Mrs E. Drogemuller, Upper Moutere. There was a good attendance, apologies being received from members unable to be present. General business was dealt with, and accounts were passed for payment. An article on the opening of “Flock House” for women was read by the president, and the Flock House scheme was then lengthily* discussed by members. The visit of Miss Hazel Johnson, Massey College, was also discussed and arrangements made for her visits later in the year, when classes for demon- \ strations of dressmaking, home-making and nutrition, will be held in various 1 centres. W.C.T.U. , The monthly meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held lon Tuesday, 14th March, in Burrough House. | The Devotional Exercises were built !up from, “God’s Promises, ’ and each | member took part. The same procedure was followed with Temperance Facts, which were many and varied, and then the Pledge was repeated. Delegates to the Dominion Conference were empowered to act on behalf of the Union regarding the several remits to Conference. Mrs Knapp undertook to forward greetings from the Nelson Union. A vote of sympathy was passed for the relatives of the late Miss Fleming, who was a member of the Union.
