GRASS AND GORSE FIRE

HOUSES THREATENED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON Yesterday afternoon a grass and gorse fire on the Port Hills at the back ol the Foundry assumed dangerous proportions and necessitated a call to the Brigade. Several houses were endangered. especially one which was unoccupied at the time, the owner being absent from Nelson. The brigade and willing helpers successfully controlled the fire.
