DOUBLE FATALITY NEAR ASHBURTON MAN AND WIFE KILLED INSTANTLY f U 011 »d Association! ASHBURTON. 28th February. A double fatality occurred at a level j crossing near Fairton at 4 p.m. to-day, I both victims being killed instantly. They were:— Martin John Esker, aged about 50, of : Dromore. Bessie Esker, his wife, aged about I 50. | Mr and Mrs Esker were driving in a car over the crossing when it wat struck by a special south-bound good* train, which shattered the vehicle. They leave three sons, one of whom resides in Christchurch and the other* in Dromore.
