WHY GROW OLD?

(By Josephine Lowman)

What a woman's foot looked like used to be her own business. However, lately toes have come out into the open. In these days a good pedicure is just as important as a manicure because ladies wriggle their toes gleefully on the beach and on the dance floor as well as in their bedrooms. Even on the street, gaily coloured toenails look out through sheer hose at other absurdities of modern life. A woman's feet are given as much care as a face used to rate. They are creamed, massaged, exercised and perfumed. The same rules hold for the pedicure that are recommended for the manicure; however, there is one thing to remember. You are courting foot discomfort if you shape the toenails too decidedly, for this may cause an ingrowing toenail. Cut the nail *fairly straight across the top—even a little bit down in the centre. But let’s talk about hands again. Regular exercise is absolutely essential if the hands arc to stay young in appearance. This is the one for to-day. Hold the right hand in front of you. Fingers should be pointing straight up. Try to keep the other lingers still while you bring the forefinger down to the thumb. Make a circle around the thumb with the finger. Raise finger. Repeat this with each finger separately, always attempting to hold the remaining fingers and the thumb still. Do the same thing with the left
