D. Wilson, College street, Motueka, left for home on Saturday evening. ** * * Mr and Mrs A. Cameron of Nelson, are visitors to Dunedin. ** * * Nelson visitors to Blenheim last week included Mr and Mrs C. Coote of Stoke, and Mrs J. Kiddy. ¥ Miss F. Gifford and Mrs R. Walker who have been staying in Nelson returned to Blenheim last wek. HINEMOA CROQUET CLUB A very pleasing function took place on the Hinemoa Croquet Lawns last week when the members of the club farewelled Mrs Norman Manssen. Mrs Manssen has been a very keen member of the club for a number of years, has been a representative in several inter-club matches, and was winner of the B grade singles (association) in 1935. The president, Mrs F. Hill, i i making a presentation to Mrs Manssen spoke in enlogistic terms of the loyalty and worthy service given at all times to the club Mrs Frost (captain) heartily endorsed Mrs Hill’s remarks and wished Mrs Manssen much happiness in her future home in Auckland. Mrs Kennedy presented a beautiful shoulder spray. A delicious afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Amodeo, Atkinson, Busbridge and ShaleCompetitions were played during the afternoon the winners being; French croquet, Mrs Manssen, golf croquet, Mrs Spencer. HINTS WORTH REMEMBERING To keep the sheen on crepe-de-chine always wash it in water to which borax has been added instead of soap. ** * * Digging the finger points into a cut lemon twice every week will produce transparent nails. ** # * A lump of sugar in a silver teapot will ensure freedom from any moisture. Common salt will remove stains from an aluminium teapot. ** # * Creases in colthes can be removed by hanging them on a line in the bathroom and turning on the hot water tap until the room becomes full of steam. After an hour or more, dry the clothes in open air and press on the wrong side with a rather cool flat iron.
