ON THE RANGE
NELSON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB R. CATLEY IN FORM Last Saturday the Nelson Defence Rifle Club fired the first stage of the club championship over the long ranges. Weather conditions were ideal except for a light head fishtail wind that caused considerable difficulty at times, changing its direction very suddenly at 800 yards. Rifleman I*. Burns was the only member to reach the standard, while at 900 yards Riflemen R. Catley and T. Carter came out on top, both reaching the standard of 47. Rifleman U. Catley wins the weekly login and also takes the A feathers while P. Burn gains the B feathers. Points were allotted for the Wastney Cup as follows■-R. Catley 5, P. Burn 4, R. Mellett 3, B. B. Jones 2 and T. Carter 1 Next Saturday a match will be fired over 300, 500 and 600 yard ranges for a club trophy to be won outright. Details of scores :
