Earl Baldwin, during a speech in Worcester to-day, revealed that on the eve of his retirement from the Premiership he discussed with Mr Chamberlain the policy of personal contacts between the heads of States and dictators. “These conta :t« must be made,” he told Mr Chamberlain. "I wish I could have done it myself, but my bolt is shot, and it will be your task, and mankind's blessing will be yours if you can steer this country and Europe through the next two or three years into paths of peace. We shook hands on that.”
