SHARP RISES

LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE ALMOST BOOM CONDITIONS REACTION TO HITLER'S SPEECH [CJ.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph—'Copyright! (Received Ist February. 10.10 a.m.) LONDON. 31st January. Conditions approaching a boom are being experienced on the London Stock Exchange. Sharp rises occurred in all sections owing to the absence of unpleasant surprises in Herr Hitler’s speech. Operators were so eager for business that they began bidding half an hour before the official opening time. Giltedgeds are rising rapidly. British funds are generally a quarter to over a point higher. The Exchange closed strong, but the highest levels of the day were not maintained owing to profit-taking. The wool sales had a more cheerful atmosphere after Herr Hitler's speech. Continental buying increased considerably.
