SYDNEY WOOL SALES
RESUMED YESTERDAY I United Press Assiwlutinnl SYDNEY. 31st January. Good competition from the Continent and Yorkshire marked the resumption of the Sydney wool auctions to-day. Moderate support came from Japan and local mills. Prices for the best merino were from par to five per cent, lower than in the previous Sydney series in sympathy with the Brisbane and London markets.
Comebacks and crossbreds sold freely and firmly at recent rates. Greasy merino made 16jd. The offering consisted of 11.443 bales of which 1,030 were sold at auction and 910 privately.
