OBITUARY
MR J. B. HORWOOD (United Press Association 1 WELLINGTON, 31st January. f lhe death occurred on Sunday after a long illness of Mr J. B. Horwood, a well-known and popular member of the Thorndon Bowling Club. Born in Gloucester, England, about 63 years ago, Mr Horwood came to New Zealand about 1918, and resided in Wellington up till the time of his death. Before his retirement sonic ten years ago he wan a commercial traveller.
In his younger days in England Mr Horwood played both Association and Rugby football, but his principal recreation in Wellington was bowls. His most notable success on the bowling green was the winning by liis rink of the rinks tourney at the Wellington Bowling Club’s jubilee celebrations. Mr Horwood had no relatives in New Zealand. MR S. A. JOHNS The death occurred suddenly on Sunday night of Mr S. A. Johns, aged 66. of Eastbourne. Mr Johns had been playing against the visiting Queensland bowler an hour or two before he died.
