PHYSICAL FITNESS WEEK

RICHMOND PREPARATIONS The executive committee set up at a racent public meeting in Richmond to undertake arrangements for the function to be held at the A. & P. Showgrounds on 18th February in connection with the Physical Fitness Campaign has been making good headway with the preparatory details and everything promises well for a succesful demonstration. At the last meeting of the committee it was decided to open a fund, and as far as possible to canvas, for* contributions of trophies for the racing events or for cash contributions with which to purchase necessary trophies. It was also decided to invite the Stoke and Brightwater Girl Guide Companies to take part and, subject to the approval of the schoolmasters, the school children’s drill display is to take the form of a competition, each school being asked to enter a squad. Mr F. J. Taplin has generously offered a trophy valued at one guinea for the winning squad and a second trophy of half-a-guinea will be awarded to the second in this competition. Another item which it is expected will attract interest is the Baby Show which is being organised by the Plunkct Society. Mrs S. Haycock, President of the Society, will be glad to hear from those who will be taking part in this competition for which also good prizes will be awarded. A meeting of the General Committee is to be held on Tuesday evening next.
