DEMAND LESS ACTIVE LONDON, 27th January. At the wool sales 9037 bales were offered, including 3172 from New Zealand, i and 7265 were sold. For a good seleo--1 lion the demand was less active, bids of- ! ten failing to reach the sellers’ high limits. New Zealand slipe crossbred lambs from Pareora sold at 12*d a lb. RAW MATERIALS LONDON, 28th January. Friday’s closing prices for the following raw materials were as follows, those for 21st January being shown in parentheses;— Cotton.—Liverpool quotation. good American middling, spot, 5.10 d a lb (5.18 d); February-March delivery, 4.73 d a lb (4.83 d). Rubber: Para, 63d a lb (7d); plantation smoked ribbed sheet, 7 11-15 d a lb (8d). Jute: February-March shipment, Indian jute, Dundee quotation, £2l 12s 6d a ton (£2l 15s). Copra: February-March shipment, sun-dried South Sea, to London or Rotterdam, £9 10s a ton (same); smoked, to Marseilles or Genoa, £9 7s 6d a ton (same); plantation Rabaul, to London or Rotterdam, £lO 5s (same).
