BOWLS CHAMPION
AN EXPERIENCED PLAYER SUCCESSES IN OTHEIt PLACES W. C. Franks, winner of the New Zealand bowling singles title <and who also skipped the winning rink> is a player with a good record over the past ! twenty years. He was born in Thames | and commenced playing bowls at Stratj ford, where he won the club championI -nip Other clubs successes were ob- | tained later at Napier. Blenheim. Masjferton and Featherston. He won the champion of champions contest of the Wairarapa and also the championship pairs on two occasions. Among other victories were the Wellington Easter rinks tournament twice and the Auckland Christmas rinks journey in 19116. He has resided in Auckland for the past five years and. except for the first four or five months, when he belonged to the Mount Albert Club, he has been a member of the Balmoral Club. He won the latter club’s singles championship on two occasions and also the percentage fours. Two sons, one of whom was a member of the winning rink in the tournament. are both bowlers above the average and they had several successes in various events in the Wairarapa.
