INTOXICATED MOTORIST
YOUNG WOMAN FINED AND LICENSE CANCELLED [United Press Association! WELLINGTON, This Day. Described by counsel as the victim cf her own good fortune in that she consumed some liquor after making a profitable investment at the Trentham races, Tui Amelia Scally, 31, a clerk, was dealt with for intoxication while in charge of a car. The plea which had more effect with the Magistrates, however, was counsel’s pointing out that she had no lunch, and the liquor she took did not immediately affect her as was shown by the fact that she manoeuvred her car from the members’ stand at Trentham, not an easy feat, the liquor apparently having a delayed action as she did not feel it till on the Hutt road on the way to Wellington. The Magistrate decided that a fine would meet the case and imposed £lO and cancelled her license for twelve months.
The prosecution followed information given the police by a motorist who witnessed the manner in which the car was being driven when nearing Wellington.
