ACUTE ANXIETY CAUSED SHANGHAI. 16th January. The British Embassy has received an official Note regarding the Chinese Government’s decision in reference to the servicing of foreign loans. There i* acute anxiety, not only as regards payments to foreign bond-holders, but also regarding the future of China’s currency and credit. The monthly remittance of £125.000, which is due in London on 17th January, towards the half-yearly payment of the Reorganisation Loan of 1913. will not be forwarded. A remittance of £75.000 for the Anglo-German loan of 1898 will be due on Ist March, and an amount of £1,000.000 for the Reorgan- ' isation Loan will fall due on Ist July.
