WARNING TO FRANCE
AGAINST INTERVENTION IN SPAIN BERLIN, 16th January. The German Press combines warnings to France against intervention in Spain with statements that the demands against France will no» be made in their final form before General Franco’s victory, which is a matter of weeks. GERMANY SUPPORTS ITALY (Received 18th January, 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, 17th January. Reuter’s Berlin correspondent states that Italy’s strong attitude regarding atlempts in certain French circles to induce France to help the Republicans is strongly shared in Berlin. Mussolini’s position is that he would be free to act, declaring ion-intervention bankrupt if other governments befriend the Republicans. He has the unequivocal support of German authoritative circles.
