Forms for wedding reports may be obtained from the Lady Editor. ** * * Miss Peggy Freeman of Hope who has been a consistent and successful competitor in Highland dancing competitions in this district during the past few years, and the winner of the Provincial Championship for the Highland fling at the Motueka gathering last year, has l een successful at gatherings in the North island this year. At the New Year’s Day sports meeting at Te Karaka she was placed first in the Highland Fling (10 entries), first in sword dance (8 entries), second in Sean Triubhis (8 entries), first in the Irish Jig (9 entries) and third in hornpipe (8 entries). At the sports meeting at Ormond Miss Freeman was the winner of the Irish Jig, second in Highland Fling and Sean Triubhis and third in the hornpipe. ** * * Miss Rhona Webb, of Wellington, is spending a short holiday in Nelson with her grandparents, Mr and Mrs J. Hair, of Mount street, prior to leaving for England next month. ** * * Misses Matthews, Haywood and Henderson, from California, are visiting Nelson, staying at the Masonic Hotel. ** * * Sisters Wallace and Sandford, of the Public Hospital, Stratford, and Sister Hayward, of the Bowen Hospital Ltd., Wellington, are spending their annual leave in Nelson. * */ * Mrs V. Powell-Wiffen, wno has been librarian at a branch of the Wellington Public Libraries, for the past 11 years, is sailing on the 7th February for England to visit her son, Mr W. PowellWiffen, who is studying aviation. Mr Powell-Wiffen has made good progress, and is sitting for his final examinations this month for Ground Engineering and Flying. Mrs Powell-Wiffen expects to be away nine months, and is return ing by the Queen Mary to New York and thence from San Francisco to New Zealand. * * * Mrs and Mrs Talbot and small son, Graham, who have been spending the Christmas holidays with Mr and Mrs T. K. Henderson, at Paekakariki, Wellington, have returned home. ** * * Overseas visitors to Nelson include Misses G. Odgers, E. Mansen, and Duncan, of London, who are guests at the Masonic Hotel.
