MEETING OF NELSON BOARD APPLICATIONS DEALT WITH A meeting of the Nelson Land Board held on Thursday was attended by Messrs P. R. Wilkinson, Commissioner of Crown Lands (chairman), A. R. Edwards, J. O’Brien, and W. Blackadder Leave of absence was granted to Mr F. W. Gibbs. It was moved by Mr A. R. Edwards and seconded by Mr J. O’Regan that the Nelson Land Board place on record its high appreciation of the very excellent service rendered by Mr H. C. Hulme during the eight years he was secretary to the Land Board. Chief Clerk, and Receiver of Land Revenue for the Nelson Land District, and whilst sincerely regretting the necessity for his departure, wishes to congratulate him on his promotion. The motion was carried unanimously. CORRESPONDENCE AND MISCELLANEOUS The board was asked to appoint its auctioneer for the purpose of conducting sales of land on its behalf as rejuired by section 77 (d) of the Land Act, 1924. It was suggested that Mr J. B. Dixon be appointed. It was resolved to appoint Mr J. B. Dixon as the board’s auctioneer, j It was resolved to hold a special meeting of the Land Board at St. John’s (Hall, Lindhurst street. Westport, at 10 a m. on 2nd February.
APPLICATIONS FOR LAND Sections 31 and 32, Black XV. Uakawau Survey District, area 41 acres 2 roods 30 perches. Applicant. Mrs A. Flowers. It was decided to grant Mrs A. Flowers a year to year occupation license at an annual rental of 10s as from 1/3.39. Section 7. block 111. Waitahu S.D. Area 27ac 2rds ,05pchs. Applicant, T. R. Watson. It was resolved to grant Mr T. R. Watson a year to year occupation license at an annual rental of £1 as from 1/1/39. Section 178. Maruia settlement Area 212 acres, approximately. Applicant, R. H. White. It was resolved to grant Mr R. H. White a renewable lease from 9th December, 1938. at a capital value of £l2O, annual rental £6. for a term of 31 years lrom Ist January, 1939. » TRANSFERS Section 15. block XI, Waitupu S.D., Area 334 ac 3rds. Gerald Hanron to R. G. Meade and Mrs B. O. Mead The transfer was approved. Section 16. block IX. Waitapu S.D., Area 143 ac lrd 24pchs. and section 13. block IX. Waitapu S.D. Area 82 acres. L. A. LAND FOR RE-OFFERING Section 7. block 111, Waitahu S.D., Area 27ac 2rds .05pchs. It was resolved not to re-offer for selection. Section 2, block 11, Mawheraiti S.D. Area 607 acres. It was decided to classify as third class land and to re-offer on renewable lease at a capital value of £155, weighted with improvements to the value of £l6O. Section 810, town of Westport. Area 32.6 perches.
It was resolved to offer at auction a lease under section 5 (g) of the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908, at an upset annual rental of £1 12s. SURRENDER Area of 1000 acres in blocks IV and VIII, Arnaud S.D., estate P. Cummings. It was decided to cancel license as at 31/12/38, subject to payment of arrears to that date. FORFEITURES Section 1 of 11, block XV. Matiri S.D. Area 452 acres. Mrs E. V. Robinson. It was resolved to declare the lease forfeited. Section 5, block XII. Mokihinui S.D. Area 529 acres. W. A. Stephen. The lease is to be declared forfeited. Section 14. block 111, Inangahua S.D Area 92ac 3rds 3Gp. Francis Pheney Arnold. It was resolved to declare the license forfeited. EXPENDITURE OF TIIIRDS. ETC. The Murchison County Council forwarded proposals for the expenditure of thirds, etc., amounting to £l4 10s 4d. accrued to 30/9/38. These were approved. The Conservator of Forests, Nelson, forwarded proposals by local bodies as under for the expenditure of fifths of revenue from State Forests: Waimea County Council period ending 30/9/38; 8s 7d; Takaka County Council, £2 ss; Inangahua County Council, £l6 16s; 1 Buller County Council, £6l Is lOd; Col-; lingwood County Council, £3 5s 7d. These were approved. The board also dealt with 12 items in committee.
