SUCCESSFUL CLUB NIGHT GOOD FORM SHOWN BY NELSOff INTERMEDIATES INTERPROVINCIAL CARNIVAL NEXT SATURDAY Another very successful weekly Swimming Club night was held at th« Municipal Baths, when I. Brown, the intermediate representative to the championships at Rotorua performed very creditably. It was also pleasing to note that Mist J. Carpenter has taken up training. Tbit swimmer has plenty of ability and a little attention to work would see her in the very top flight among divers. Miss C. West gave a very creditable performance, being 2sec. outside the winning time of last year’s intermediate girls breaststroke winner. Ngaio Gibbs, a junior girl, also show* distinct promise, and a little mn-e attention to starts and turns will improve her tremendously. Miss J. Black is putting in a lot of work and should do quite well at Rotorua. Next week-end should be very interesting to swimmers as a carnival is to be held at the Municipal Baths on Saturday evening for a challenge cup presented by the Y.M.C.A. between West Coast. Marlborough and Nelson. There will be a team of between 30 and 40 swimmers from the Coast and 20 from Marlborough. As all events in the cup challenge are from the scratch mark some interesting racing should ba seen.
