The damage at Port Hedland caused by the cyclone on 11th January is estimated at between £75,000 and £loo,ooo* most of which was caused by the sea. About 30 per cent, of the people are homeless. Buildings that were blown or washed down include a picture theatre and store. Torrential rain continues at Kalgoorlie and Boulder. The damage is now estimated at £150,000. Phenomenal falls of seven inches of rain in 24 hours were recorded r some areas.
