At a farewell prior to his departure for England the former leader of the Opposition, Mr R. B. Bennett, declared that only an adjustment of the organisation for the development of resources
within the Empire would solve the Empire’s problems. Canada and the other peoples within the Empire would never succeed by competition with foreign countries. It democracy was to be made as efficient as dictatorships it must accept sacrifices and discipline to that end.
