MASS MEETING OF IMPORTERS

In response to tequests the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce has decided to convene a mass meeting of importers from all parts of New Zealand who are affected by import regulations. The Importers’ Federation is acting in conjunction with the Associated Chambers. The conference will be in Wellington on 25th and 26th January. The Hon W Nash. Minister of Finance. has signified his willingness to attend and will address the conference on opening and state the case for the Government. It is hoped that sufficien progress will be made to enable a series of questions to be prepared and the Minister has agreed in that case to return to the conference the following day and answer questions It is intended *that the meeting should be not merely a meeting of delegates but a massed gathering of all importers who are prepared to spare time and expense to attend to discuss problems, and crambers are asked to get in touch with local trade organisations in their respective cen.res, embracing even members outside their own ranks in order to urt attendance where possible at .e conference and also to arrange where firms consider it desirable tor them to send representatives to the conference which it is desired should be as representative as possible.
