BUDGE'S PROFESSIONAL DEBUT
TO PLAY VINES ON 3rd JANUARY iD.P.l.—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright! NEW YORK, 30th December. It is expected that 17,500 persons will pay 48.000 dollars to see Budge’s professional debut against Vines at Madison Square Gardens on 3rd January. Vines says he plans to pound Budge’s forehand, “which is not as strong as his backhand. Most amateur opponents have made the mistake of playing to his backhand.” If Budge lifts the professional title during his tour of 70 American and Canadian cities, Vines will retire and concentrate on golf.
