ILLUMINATIONS ON LARGE SCALE i j Mr Geo. Robins, who with Mrs Robins ■ i has recently returned from a trip to England, forwards the folowing cutting from an English paper indicating the ■ ] extent of the illuminations provided at | Blackpool, the popular North Country : seaside resort. It says:— There was a big transformation at • i Blackpool last night. A few minutes before midnight the illuminations were in brilliant glow; a lew minutes afterwards they were in I process of being dismantled, j The task of dismantling is not a 1 light one. Seventy men with three • special vehicles will be at the job for I six weeks. I During that time they will have to | deal with;— 300.000 bulbs. | 27 miles of l'estonning. 40 miles of wire connection, j 13$ tons oi material. 1.000 poles. The Ruminations Engineer (Mr F. W. ! Field) told an “Evening Gazette” rej porter that winter lighting would be re- | stored on the Promenade. While the materials are being stored jin an acre of space at the Illumination* . depot, other men will be preparing I plans for the 1939 Illuminations.
