HOPE

METHODIST CHURCH ' The Bible Class completed the course of studies last Thursday night, and a ' pleasant social evening followed when ' Mr B. Savage, of Nelson, was heartily j thanked for the valuable service he had given by taking charge of the class dur- j ing the year. The members had much i enjoyed the work he had done and j wished to show in some practical way their thanks by presenting a suitable; book which would remind him of a number of friendships that had been formed in Hope. The membership had increased and the interest had been maintained. The Rev. M. Ayrton conveyed to Mr ! Savage the appreciation of the parents j for his loyalty and devotion to his work as leader since the removal of Mr Galbraith from Hope. He wished also to introduce the successor for next year which will commence on the first Suday in February, 1939, at 9.45 a.m. Mr R. Cross, of Brlghtwater. acknowledged his welcome, and said that he was looking forward to a year of successful work and asked for the co-oper-ation of parents and members to achieve that aim Mr Savage in a brief speech thanked the class for their gift, and stated that he had thoroughly enjoyed his work among them, and would continue to be interested in their future developments. Mr D. Webby made the presentation in a few well-chosen remarks. | A numoer of games were arranged in i which all took a part, after which the ladies of the church provided supper.
