NEW ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN

FIRES GAS SHELLS ! FRENCH INVENTION INSPECTED (By Air Mail—Srjecial Correspondent i LONDON, 10th December. A new secret anti-aircraft gun, firing gas shells, has been invented by French experts. Sir Kingsley Wood, British Air Minister, was shown the gun at Villacoublay, the French military aerodrome, before he returned to England this week. The gun. which is on a multi-barrel principle, firing several shells simultaneously, has an effective range of six miles. Gas is under such high pressure in the shells, it is claimed, that on bursting there is sufficient concentration over a wide area to overcome any pilot. It is also claimed that the simultaneous bursts create air “pockets” making flying dangerous, even if no hit is registered.
