PROBATIONARY ASSISTANTS The appointments of probationary assistants for 1939 were approved as follows: — Auckland Point: Doris L. Hildyard and Patricia Cowin. Denniston: John G. Burt. Granity: Joan C. Davis. Hampden Street: Haddin F. Blair, and Margaret H. Scott. Motueka: John H. Woodley. Nelson Central: Kenneth S. Haycock and John R. Williams. Reefton: Mary E. Thompson. Richmond: Victor P. Malcolm. Tahunanui: Wilfred D. A. Brereton. Takaka: John A. Feary. Westport: Alan A. E. Broad and Mavis Monahan. EXTRA PROBATIONARY ASSISTANTS Riwaka: Lewis A. Sparks. Murchison: Gertrude E. White. Motueka: Lona M. Relat, and Warren P. Rowling. Brightwater: Jean F. Max. It was decided that the March meeting of the board be held at Westport. The Biixhfield committee was granted £3. The Brooklyn committee’s request for a new pumping plant was granted. It was decided to reply that the board made no grants for school libraries. TEACHERSHIP APPOINTMENTS The following teachership appointments were approved:— Granity District High School, secondary assistant mistress, Miss B. E. Woods, B.A. (Ngaio). Westport, assistant mistress, Miss O. M. M. Costello (Westport). RESIGNATIONS The following teachers’ resignations were received: —Miss M. M. Blair (Riwaka), Miss L. Desaunais (Motueka), Miss J. C. Douglas (Takaka Hill), Miss G. Hazeldine (Gowan Valley).
