HARMONIC SOCIETY

CONCERT ON TUESDAY Every year as Christmas approaches the thoughts of people turn to the event which inaugurated the anniversary, and so to the story of the Messiah. The celebrated composer Handel composed a beautiful oratorio on the life of Christ, and this will be rendered by the society on Tuesday night at the School of Music. The programme on this occasion is altered slightly, some numbers being omitted and others added All the favourites, however, are retained, including numbers such as "O Thou that tellest,” 'He shall feed His Flock.' "Surely.” "I know that my Redeemer Liveth,” and “Hallelujah.” The soloists are Miss Jacobs (soprano). Mrs Noble (alto). Mr Huggins (tenor), and Capt Norris-Hill (bass). These artists need no recommendation to Nelson audiences. being well and favourably known. The accompaniments will be played by Miss Wilding (piano) and Miss Carty (grand organ). Two short numbers “Songs of Courage" by George Dyson and an instrumental quartet by Schumann will* pteeede the oratorio. The plan which Is now open at Begg's indicates a good audience, and seats should be reserved early.
