LOCAL CRICKET
CITY ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE MEETING ITEMS OF INTEREST A meeting of the City Cricket Association delegates was held during the week. The following members were present: Messrs F. Mitchell (president), in the chair, A. W. Alloo, H. M. McGirr, H. R. Methven. H. Burn. V. Blincoe, N. Blincoe, R. Newman. C. Exton. W. Dickenson, W. Terrill, N. Batchelor, j It. Coleman, R. Mayers, A. Jones, and \ A. J. Gray (secretary). An apology was received from Mr E. R. Neale. The secretary of the Wellington touring team wrote asking that his team might be allowed to bat 12 men against Nelson on 2nd and 3rd January, provided all his team were fit. He explained that he did not wish to stand a man down for two days on a short tour. This request was agreed to. A protest from the Athletic Club, alleging that Old Boys juniors had batted an unclassified player, was upheld, and Athletic were granted a 4 point win. A protest from the Wakatu Club regarding the eligibility of an Athletic junior player was discussed, and then withdrawn. Mr Alloo gave notice of his intention to move that the rule requiring a player from another club or district to produce a clearance before classification, be amended, so as to refer only to players from other clubs affiliated with the Nelson District Cricket Association. The emergency committee were instructed to arrange for the fixing of | boundaries at the Park. A request from the umpires that j umpiring in representative matches in Nelson be allotted to members of the j local Umpires’ Association was agreed I to. subject to the consent of visiting : teams. The date for allowing discount on | affiliation fees was extended till 10th I Decmber. | It was resolved to play competition matches on 24th Decmber.
