PARTNERS WITH EQUAL RIGHTS GERMAN MINISTER’S STATEMENT (Received 7th December, 12.45 p.m.) PARIS, 6th December. Herr von Ribbentrop issued a statement as follows: “France and Germany, taking into account the solid basis constituted by a friendship binding them to other States, agreed to end secular and frontier conflicts and by reciprocally recognising their territory to facilitate the road to mutual recognition and consideration of their vital national interests as partners with equal rights. France and Germany declare themselves, after serious differences, ready to establish relations on ‘bon voisinage’ for the future. With this declaration of goodwill and the express conviction that no opposition exists of a vital nature to justify serious conflict of economic interests, I am convinced that the declaration would serve to set aside the historic prejudices, and that the agreement on neighbourly relations expressed by the declaration will find unanimous approbation not only among the leaders but also the people. I hepe the declaration will open a new era in the relations of our peoples ’
