The State Government by a special proclamation fixed the maximum price of a 21b loaf of bread sold over the counter at s£d, as against sjjd decreed by the Master Bakers' Association. As farthings are not in eurrercy this virtually represents a cut of id in the, increase of Id fixed b;- bakers to meet I the £5 15s per ton excise tax on flour.'
