SCOUTS FROM NEW ZEALAND 600 TO ATTEND OFFICIAL PERSONNEL APPOINTED Preparations for the departure of the I New Zealand contingent of GOO Bov Scouts to attend the jamboree in Sydney at the end of this month arc going rapidly ahead. Leaders have been appointed, and the boys will leave in two I parties, one from Auckland and the other from Wellington Each party will j comprise 300 boys. It will be the biggest youth contingent ever sent from New Zealand. The New Zealand Centennial Jamboree organiser, Commissioner J. E. F. Vogel, will leave Wellington by the Awatca on 13th December in order to study the administrative organisation of the Sydney jamboree. In this way he will be able to apply the latest developments to the 1939-40 jamboree to be held in Hcretaunga. Hutt Valley, and expected to be attended by some 5500 Scouts. The northern party of boys will leave Auckland by the Awatea on 20th December. and will return on lGth.Jnrmary. Its leader will be Mr.W'T). John:. Auckland, assisted by Mr A. F. A. Woollams. Stubbs Palmerston North, treasurer, and Mr R V. Foster and Mr R. E. Glcnsor Wellington. will be pocket-money cashiers Representatives of Seoul headquarters attending the jamboree will be the Dominion Chief Commissioner. Mr H Christie. Wanganui: Mr D. Rotorua, display Scoutcrs The New' Zealand Scouts attending the jamboree will take with them their own camping equipment. tents and cooking utensils. They will pitch their camp alongside those of Scouts from every part of the Empire, and will take part in displays of seouteraft. and in communal campfire entertainments. They will also be given opportunities of seeing Sydney and its harbour, and possibly of making sightseeing trips into the country districts. It is expected that the Australian Scout Association will reciprocate by sending at least as large a contingent to the New Zealand jamboree next year.
