FAT LAMB PRODUCTION

FAVOURABLE SEASON IN MARLBOROUGH An indication of the very favourable; season that has been enjoyed in Marlborough for fat lamb production is given in the experience of an Awatere farmer, Mr C. P. Goulter, who had the distinction of forwarding the first big draft of lambs of the season to the Picton freezing works last week (states the "Express”). The draft numbered 65G lambs, represented exactly 50 per cent, of the lambing on the property this season. and they were taken straight off the ewes to the works. The average weight "on the hooks” for the line was 34.451b5. There were no rejects and no damaged carcases in the draft. The lambs were the progeny of halfbred ewes and Southdown rams.
