GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTER
TO VISIT PARIS NO DRIVE THROUGH THE STREETS MIXED RECEPTION BY PRESS 1J I* A liv Electric Telegraph—Copy right I (Received 6th December, 1.35 p.m.) PARIS, sth December. Herr von Ribbentrop, German Foreign Minister, will not be driven through the streets of Paris. On arriving at the Gare du Nord at 9.45 a.m. his coach will be shunted to Invalides station, which is next door to the Quai d’Orsay and the German Embassy. It is not expected that he will wear the Nazi uniform. One hundred German refugees who are regarded as suspects will be placed under surveillance during his visit. A
large retinue includes members of the Foreign Office and members of Herr Ribbentrop’s bureau. The London "Daily Telegraph’s" Berlin correspondent, remarking that the inclusion of Dr. Wiehl, head of the Economic Department. is significant, says that the French press continues to give a mixed reception to the visit. Conservatives welcome the visit as a gesture that may possibly improve the atmosphere. The Left press declares that it is ill-timed, marking the loss of French prestige after the Munich agreement.
