LONDON'S FAMOUS THEATRE

The original Drury Lane Theatre was opened on Bth April. 1663, with Kiliigrew, the King’s Jester, as producer and a company of players known as the "King’s Servants from the ‘Red Bull’ as actors. The performances started at the then fashionable hour of 3 p.m. Th» prices were: Box, 4s; pit, 2s 6d; gallery, Is 6d and Is. The new theatre was burned down in 1672 and Wren replaced it with a building which lasted for. a hundred years. The present theatre was built in 1812. The portico was added in 1831.
