MONDAY NIGHT'S CONCERT As each succeeding concert by th* Nelson Male Voice Choir has come and gone it has l'ully merited the ever-in-creusing confidence oi many patrons, until now. at the close of its fifth season, the Choir has a reputation second to none. Judging by the seating plan on view at Chas. Bogg s, there Is no diminution of popularity in the coming concert on Monday night next at the School of Music. Among the Choir s numbers on this occasion are some old favourites, chosen by ballot of patrons, which have invariably improved with repetition. Who would not thrill to the strains of the pibroch in Maunder s “Border Ballad,” or the dominant note of the sailor in “The Sea Fight.” by Leon Paliard. or again the triumphant martial rhythm of the Soldiers’ Chorus” by Gounod” In striking contrast the progtamme contains such harmonious works as "Sweet and Low.” “Drink to Me Only ” “Sylvia." Rosary.” etc. Again the mood changes to "Laughing” and “Pussy's in the Well.” items which carry the audience in a spirit of joviality From Charles Stanford cornea a song of the Fleet. “The Little Admiral.’ written for solo and chorus, the soloist oeing Captain Norris-Hill. who gives a forceful interpretation Mr Hill is also bracketed with other solo numbers Instrumental music will be supplied by Miss G.
