DEANNA DURBIN
TO PORTRAY JENNY LIND For the first time Deanna Durbin is to portray an opera singer on the screen. Following production of “Three Smart Girls Grow Up” and “First Love,” her next two pictures, she will star in a story based on the early life of Jenny Lind, known as the Swedish Nightingale. The story, an original by Hans Rameau, recently purchased by Universal, is as yet untitled. Henry Koster will direct, and Joe Pasternak wil lbe the producer. Deanna Durbin was brought into motion pictures to play the screen part of Madame Schumann-Heink as a girl. The sudden sickness and passing of the great diva caused cancellation of this role.
