90th BIRTHDAY TO-MORROW

MRS M. A. CHING. OF WAKATU Mrs Mary Ann Ching. of Wakatu, celebrates her 90th birthday to-morrow, when a large family party will be held. Mrs Ching was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Doidge, and came to New Zealand from Cornwall with her parents when about eight years of age. The Doidge family first settled in Taranaki, but at the time of the Maori wars they came to Nelson as refugees, and did not return to the North Island, settling in Stoke. She married Mr James Ching whose death took place two years ago. All of Mrs Ching's family of five sons and two daughters are living, and there are fifteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Mrs Ching, who has been maintain- ! ing good health, to-day received many ' congratulatory messages from rela- ‘ tives and friends.
