AVALANCHES IN WEST INDIES
MANY DEATHS FEARED lD P. A.—Bv Electric Telegraph-Copy right’ NEW YORK, 23rd November. A report from St. Lucia, British West Indies, states that a series of avalanches, which caused whole mountains to split up and poured a blanket of wet clay 20 feet deep over large areas, probably hilled hundreds of persons. Already 75 bodies have been recovered. Continuous slides, moving with great rapidity, poured down over whole villages before the population could i escape.
