PROJECT AT MURCHISON Mr C. F. Skinner, member forj Motueka. who has recently made sev- | eral trips to Wellington on business in j connection with the electorate, informed a "Mail” representative to-day that the Housing Department has agreed to j i proceed with the project of building: 1 Government houses in Murchison. For | many years past, he said, there had; 1 been an acute shortage of houses i»i ( ' this district, and the action of the Govi ernment would relieve the position considerably. It was hoped that local builders would be able to tender for the work, as Murchison district would then receive the full benefit of the scheme. A number of properties had already been offered to the Government, and an officer of the Housing Department would shortly visit the district with the object of inspecting possible sites. GRANT FOR SCHOOL ON SHENANDOAH ROAD Mr C. F. Skinner M.P., also stated that Public Works men, who are under : notice of transfer to the Shenandoah road job, will be pleased to learn that a grant to build a school at the Ariki I Public Works Camp has been approv-i led by the Minister. Many of the men. he said, who had been notified of their transfer to the job were in doubt as to whether schooling facilities would be available. He was, however, very pleased to be able to reassure them on this point.
