EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS
EIGHT RECORDED YESTERDAY I Unnee, Press Associalinn) * WELLINGTON, This Day. Seismographs at the Dominion Observatory yesterday recorded eight quakes with Dominion origin. The tally started at 5.53 a.m. with a slight quake in Hawkes Bay, about 140 miles from Wellington At 1.22 p.m. one of the most severe for some time was recorded, the origin being about 100 miles away in the vicinity of Wanganui. There was an undulating tremor, followed by a severe ;olt. The disturbance was felt over a wide area. After shocks were recorded in connection with this quake at 3.47, 8.5. 9.30, 11.5, 11.18, and 11.55 pm. All were very slight except that at 11.5. which was quite strong and felt at Wellington.
