TOWN BOARD MEETING I RUBBISH REMOVAL SERVICE CLEAN-UP BEFORE CHRISTMAS j At the fortnightly meeting of the Tahunanui Town Board held last evening there were present: Messrs C. Chamberlain (chairman). W. Gould. J. j Logan. A. Stagg, C. Palmer. T. W. Roberts and L. Haywood. Accounts totalling £224 Is 8d were passed for payment. Mr Gould, who represented the board at the last meeting of the Nelson Provincial Centennial Committee, reported on the decisions made at the meeting. Mr Gould was thanked for his report, j DANGEROUS CORNERS ! It was decided to request the city traffic inspector (Mr C. Parkinson) to j specify any corners where signs are j necessary at the corners of side roads and main highways in the district. It was decided to conduct a rubbish j removal service on two days early in ! December, on similar lines to last year.! A quarterly or six monthly service was I suggested by Mr Gould, the chairman stating that this involved too much ex- 1 pense. However it was customary to' have a clean-up before Christmas, he j said. A letter from the Minister of Transport regarding town carrying services ,
was received. Mr G. T. Robins wrote regarding flood j damage to his property. It was decided | to reply that the flooding was caused by j | overflow from the main road ditch and ! | the matter was in the hands of the Main Highways Board. I In reply to a letter from the board, the Waimea County Council stated that j it had no recommendations to make ( regarding the declaration of Parker's •; road as a main highway. ; ( PIANO IN HALL 1 | I j A letter was received from Mr W. j ■ i M. Burroughs asking whether the piano i . in the hall could be put in good order! for the forthcoming school concert. It was resolved that the Hall Committee go into the question of having [ the present piano repaired or, alternatively procuring another, secondhand. Mrs N. Burrell complained in a letter that school children had been removing cones from pine trees in Burrell Park. It was decided to reply to Mrs Burrell stating that the matter would be placed in the hands of the schoolmaster. In his report the foreman (Mr E. i Win) reported that the work of re-] forming Rui street was in progress and should be completed this week.
