GERMANY’S FIRST AIM
PLACE IN AFRICA’S SUN ! | NOT INTERESTED IN FAR EASTERN FORMER POSSESSIONS I'U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright I ; (Received 26th October. 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, 25th j The Australian Associated Press says I it is believed that Germany reiterated J to Japan that she was not interested in | the restoration of her Far Eastern coloi nies, which is considered applicable : not only to the Carolines and the Mar- | shall Islands but to New Guinea and : other territories mandated to Austra!Ha and New Zealand. This assurance j will certainly hold while the German j navy is on its present footing. Japan’s refusal to answer questions j regarding the administration of her ■ mandate is believed to indicate her decision to retain the islands, to which she recently extended mobilisation, contrary to the terms of the mandate. It is believed that Germany’s first aim is a place in Africa’s sun. Doubtless machinery has been prepared for the re-occupation of substantial areas.
