THEFT OF FUNDS ADMITTED

FORMER BASEBALL CLUB SECRETARY {United Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The former secretary of the Hutt Baseball Club, Stuart Arthur Ferguson, stood in the dock in the Magistrate’s Court to-day and admitted the theft of club funds. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within twelve months. He was charged with fraudulently omitting to pay or account for sums of money totalling £8 12s 6d to the Hutt Baseball Club. Ferguson was secretary of the club last year and all the moneys were paid to and kept by him, said Detective-Ser-geant Bickerdike. He moved from Lower Hutt to Eastbourne and when he was requested to attend a meeting of the club he failed to do so. Later he came to Christchurch, and when he was interviewed by the police he was quite frank. Ferguson admitted that he had converted the money to his own use because he was in financial difficulties.
