MUNICIPAL PLEASURE CENTRE
[To The Editor! Sir.—Now that the City Council are undecided what to do with the reclaim-; ed area of land adjoining the Tobacco Factory, Halifax street, and the stream, : Haven road, might I humbly suggest! that the following would make that part of Nelson an ideal centre both for health and attractiveness by finding ways and means (remember, where there is a will there is a way), for the Mayor to call a public meeting of all those interested to make about three acres of the above land a real municipal pleasure centre, such as municipal tennis, croquet and bowling greens, both for men and ladies, old and young. The Council to control and 1 keep in order same. The expense of same could be met by charging those 1 desiring to play so much per game. This, I think, would be far more desir- I ous than allowing just a few citizens ‘ the rights to enclose such a valuable I area of land, which has so recently i been formed out of public monies.—l am, etc., \ ADVANCE NELSON AND PROGRESS. , Nelson, 6th Sept. <
