PROPOSED AUSTRALIAN TOUR BY SECONDARY SCHOOLS TEAM QUESTION OF ITINERARY ’ A circular letter has been received P from the New Zealand Football Association by the local association regarding the projected tour of Australia by . a New Zealand secondary schools soccer team. It is proposed that the party consist of 16 players (under the age of - ! 16 on Ist January, 1938) to be accomi panied by two managers—the managers •j to find their own expenses. Nomina- - | tions for the two managers, one of ; whom is to be a secondary school masI I ter, will be culled from the various as--1 j sociations in New Zealand. I In addition to the grant of £l5O to ’ j be made by the N.Z.F.A. toward the 1 ! cost of the tour, local associations will j be asked to guarantee and forward £lO j yer boy selected from their particular | association. The estimated expenses j of the tour are £3OOO. The Australian I authorities are undertaking the bil- | letting of the boys and managers and ; will pay all expenses while in Australia. In a letter to the N.Z.F.A. the secrc- ’ tary of the Australian Soccer Football j Association states that the proposal is j regarded very favourably in Australia. He states that the New Zealand sugj gestion that the team should arrive in I Sydney on 23rd August and embark ! again at Sydney on 12th September apj peared a very short stay, and to include Adelaide. Melbourne and Sydney in the itinerary, would be asking too I much of the boys. An effort would be j made to have a tour of New South j Wales and Victoria, or New South ! Wales and Queensland, with preference to the latter idea. If the period of the team’s visit could be extended the itinerary could be extended also.
