Five-eighths: R. L. Roberts (West Coast): T. Berghan (Otago). Half-back: C. K. Saxton (South Canterbury ). Front-row forwards: L. George (Southland): C. E. Quaid (Otago >: G. Mason (Buller). Mahoney (Southland); forward. W. L. Crawford (Southland). DRAWN MATCH CANTERBURY AND BAY OF, PLENTY CHRISTCHURCH. 6th June. In the first Rugby representative match of the season, Bay of Plenty drew with Canterbury. 8-8. It wa„ a lively enough game, but most of the startling incidents came from the visitors’ end. and Canterbury's form was disappointing. There was little combination among the backs, and the forwards seldom did anything decisive from either line-out or tight. MATCH AT HAMILTON EASY WIN FOR AUCKLAND HAMILTON. 6th June. Outplaying the Waikato backs, and holding their own with the rugged Waikato forwards, Auckland convincingly beat Waikato in the first Rugby representative match this season at Hamilton by 26 to 3. Conditions were ideal, but the football not open, although played at a torrid pace. Russell, Waikato’s half, held the Waikato team together, and but for his play the score would have been much higher ■gainst them. He was the outstanding player on the field. RUNAWAY WIN NAPIER. 6th June. A runaway win was scored by the Hawkes Bay Rugby fifteen against Wairarapa to-day, the score being: Hawkes Bay 56, Wairarapa nil. The match was played at McLean Park. (Received 7th June. 10.50 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. The Council of the New South Wales Rugby Union unanimously endorsed the Management Committee's action in informing the New Zealand Rugby Union that it desired the rules at present in operation here to be observed in the All Blacks’ matches.
