In the first Rugby representative match of the season, Bay of Plenty drew with Canterbury. 8-8. It wa„ a lively enough game, but most of the startling incidents came from the visitors’ end. and Canterbury's form was disappointing. There was little combination among the backs, and the forwards seldom did anything decisive from either line-out or tight. MATCH AT HAMILTON EASY WIN FOR AUCKLAND HAMILTON. 6th June. Outplaying the Waikato backs, and holding their own with the rugged Waikato forwards, Auckland convincingly beat Waikato in the first Rugby representative match this season at Hamilton by 26 to 3. Conditions were ideal, but the football not open, although played at a torrid pace. Russell, Waikato’s half, held the Waikato team together, and but for his play the score would have been much higher ■gainst them. He was the outstanding player on the field. RUNAWAY WIN NAPIER. 6th June. A runaway win was scored by the Hawkes Bay Rugby fifteen against Wairarapa to-day, the score being: Hawkes Bay 56, Wairarapa nil. The match was played at McLean Park.
