HOODED MONK IS HOMELESS

A 300-year-old cottage in Hornchurch. now' demolished, is said to have been visited by the ghost of a hoodeu monk. According to the legend, the signal for the approach of the monk, who usually carried a lighted candle, was a sudden drop in the temperature of the -oom. from which a dog would run howling in terror. In would walk the monk in his sandalled feet, crossing the room and melting into the wall on the opposite tide.
