RAGING IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND TREMENDOUS DAMAGE DONE VESSELS IN DISTRESS (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright] LONDON, 2nd June. The fiercest June gale in living memory, reaching at times a speed of 100 miles an hour, accompanied by rain and thunder, is sweeping the Channel and Southern England, causing tremendous damage. Lifeboats at points on the coast have gone to the assistance of distressed vessels. Several are ashore at Deal and Dover, where a cloudburst occurred, causing floods to a depth of two feet. Marquees at Epsom racecourse were torn to ribbons and bookmakers’ stands wrecked.
